My Story After Editing...
Acknowledgments :
Thank you, to the Australian Koala Foundation for letting me use their website for all my research to help me create this book. ‘Australian Koala Foundation,www.savethekoala.com’.

There once lived four koalas in a tree. One mother, one father and two children. They all lived in their own gum tree in the forest. They were all very happy as they sleep all day and ate gum leaves, until....
Page 2:
One day while all the koalas were sleeping a group of people came to chop down all the trees. One of the baby koalas tried waking up their mother and father “ Wake up, wake up!” yelled the baby koala, she pushed and shoved the rest of her family to wake them up.
But it was to late. They started to chop the tree down, finally the rest of the family woke up and they all quickly climbed down from branch to branch off the tree and reached the ground just in time. “ Why are they chopping down our home?” asked the mother.
Page 4:
All the koalas were sitting on the ground with no home and no place to go. That same afternoon two hikers came hiking through the forest and saw the koalas sitting on the ground. “ What happened?” asked one of the hikers.
Page 5:
“ I don’t know, should we call the Australian Koala Foundation?” asked the other hiker. Once they thought about what they should do, one of the hikers go on the phone to the Australian koala foundation. During this time the other hiker stood near the koalas to make sure they didn’t go anywhere.
Page 6:
“ Hello, is this the Australian Koala Foundation? Hi my name is Anna and I went hiking in the forest this morning with my brother and we found a family of four koalas sitting on the ground.” she said into the phone.
“ Thank you, for calling Anna if you could please just stay where you are and we will send some of our workers to the site.” replied one of the members of the Australian Koala Foundation into the phone.
Page 7:
The hikers stayed with the koalas and after a while two members of the Australian Koala Foundation drove into the forest with a van and collected the koalas. The Australian Koala Foundation took the koalas back to their offices and took good care of the koalas.
Page 8:
But as much as the Australian Koala Foundation can do they still need the communities help. So people around Australia fostered the family of koalas and also gave a donations to the Australian Koala Foundation.

Ideas For My Book
Beginning:
- A family of 4 koalas living in a gum tree.
- A mother, father and 2 children.
- They are all very happy sleeping and eating gum leaves..
Middle:
- People come and chop down their home in the gum tree.
- They are left stranded in the forest with no home, sitting on the ground.
- one day Hikers come along and report them to the Australian Koala Foundation (AKF).
- They come and take them into care.
End:
- People adopt and sponsor the koalas.
- They also give donations to the Australian Koala Foundation to help care for them.
Ideas for Publishing:
- My neighbour works at a printing shop.
- I am going to ask him to laminate the cover, bind the book and make 4 copies.
- I have already talked to him about it and he is happy to do it.
- The reason i have to make 4 copies is because one is for me, one is for my teacher Mr Krenske, One for the junior library at St Hilda's School and lastly one for the Australian Koala Foundation.
Research
Information on Koalas:
- Koala's Spend most of their time sleeping.
- For a few hours each day they eat gum leaves.
- Gum leaves don't give much energy, so they have to eat a lot to stay warm and move around.
- A baby Koala is carried in it's mothers pouch (feeds on her milk).
- When they are big enough rides on her back
- may stay with it's mother for 2 years before leaving to fin it's own home.
- The Australian Koala Foundation (AFK) is the principal non-profit,non-Government organised dedicated to the conservation and effective management of the wild koala and its habitat.
- Organises a save the koala month (September).
- Does not recieve (nor seeks to recieve) Government funding.
- Koalas are disappearing. Loss of koala habitat and koala food trees (eucalyptus leaves) is the leading koala threat. You can help save the koalas by supporting the Australian Koala Foundation.
- Their saying is: No Tree, No Me.
- You can also help by:
- Fostering a Koala
- Planting a tree online
- Buying Merchandise from the koala shop online
- Participating in the Help the Koala month
- Making a donation to the Australian Koala Foundation
- Make a Bequest
- Help them fundraise by selling their merchandise
- Scribe for free to the Koala news.

Planning My Wise Project
I haven't really thought about the title so i will let you know later.
What is Your Goal?
My Goal for my wise project is to raise awareness and educate the younger and older audience in St Hilda's School. I will be helping the Australian Koala Foundation, by writing short picture book with facts and a fiction story going behind it. I am helping the Australian Koala Foundation because with more trees being cut down koala's will have no were to go.
What is Your Product?
My final product will be a short story children's book telling them about the Australian Koala Foundation with illustrations and a few facts. After i finish these to books I will make two copies i will donate it to the Junior and Senior Library for girls at St Hilda's to read. I am doing this so i can raise awareness and educate girls to help save the koala's in Australia. My final Product will be seen in the junior and Senior Library so people can read it and then later on when they are older they might be able to help the Australian Koala Foundation.
What Habits and Skills Do You Want to Improve?
I would like to improve my drawing skills by drawing my own illustrations. I would also like to improve the habit of mind taking responsibilities and risks by doing a little bit of this project every week and weekend.
I am also thinking about changing my idea from a short story to s slide show or i would like to produce a website for the Australian Koala Foundation.

My Decision

I have decided to do the idea of writing a childrens book with pictures and words, telling the younger audience and others about ther Australian Koala Fondation and telling them how they can help.
Can't Decide Between Two Choices
Write a Children's Book talking about the Australian Koala Foundation or make a activity booklet, with activities to do with the Australian National Koala Foundation.
